Wheat Beer Gin Sour

Sours pre-date Prohibition. So search through the internet and you'll find hundreds of classic sour recipes. We are bringing the sour into modern times. By combining it with something trendy in the booze scene. Whats that you ask? why Craft beer of course. in this case, wheat beer. I know, its abit typical and not so "crafty" but Blue moon really works a treat with this. not to mention easy to get a hold of. But we encourage you to play around with the recipe to suit your own tastes

  • 25 ML Old Tom Gin
  • 12.5 ML Cointreau
  • 20 ML Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 10 ML Sugar Syrup See below for recipe
  • 3 DASHES Peychaud's Bitters
  • Top Wheat Beer


  • Mix all ingredients apart from the beer, in a shaker.
  • Shake with ice.
  • Strain out into any preferred half pint glass (No ice).
  • Top with wheat beer.
  • Garnish with wheat.


How to make sugar syrup

In a pan, on a hob, boil sugar and water in a ratio of 2:1 That is one part sugar (In grams)  and two parts boiling water (In ml) for example. 500ML boiling water, mixed with 250Grams Sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved, pour into a bottle and voilà! its done.

Side note: Yes, that is not a half pint in the picture. its actually a decorative vase. which happened to hold the same amount of liquid as a half pint. none "standard" glasses make the best cocktail vessels you know... Thats how you make it big in this biz. Thats how the big shots in London make their cocktails look so good.
