The Nutcracker

This is the kind of cocktail I drink when i'm sat in my antique Queen Anna wing back chair, when its night and the 1000 lights of my Christmas tree light the living room. You don't see many wintry drinks that are strong and complex. For the most part they are very straight forward, Creamy and sweet. Not that i have a problem with them type of Christmas drinks, and believe me, i have my fair share of them. But when you do get the chance to try something like this one, do so.

Ingredients

  • 50 ML Scottish Whisky
  • 15 ML Maple Syrup
  • 4 Dashes Walnut Bitters
  • 1 Orange peel

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a mixing jar. Ensuring the orange peel has none of the pith on it. That's the white bit. It also helps to give it a little squeeze before dropping it in. That will release some of the natural oils in the peel
  • Stir with ice till preferred dilution
  • Strain into a chilled Coupe or Nick and Nora glass
  • Garnish with a whole walnut
