Mount Julep

A Mint Julep is a delightful cocktail, with Its simplicity it’s a great example of the diversity of bourbon and mint in cocktails. With it being the Kentucky derby official drink it’s not a surprise its so popular. 
Fun Fact: It takes 7,800 litres of bourbon and 2,250 pounds of locally grown mint to make the 120,000 Mint Juleps sold at Churchill Downs during Kentucky Derby weekend. That's a whole lot of mint juleps

Ingredients

  • 50 ML Bourbon
  • 12.5 ML Cardamom Syrup
  • 1 Handful Mint Leaves
  • Top Ginger Ale

Instructions

  • Take an empty can and strip it of its label
  • Spank the mint leaves like the bad girls/boys they are, and add them to the bottom of the tin
  • Pour over bourbon and cardamom syrup
  • Fill with crushed ice and churn
  • Top with ginger ale and add a crushed ice cap
  • Garnish with mint sprigs

Not Got Crushed Ice?

Wrap cubed ice in a towel and beat the living hell out of it till it turns into crushed ice.
